Grants

Before you apply, learn more about our grant-making process, from what you need to tell us, to how we award them.

Eligibility Criteria

LouLou Race Foundation will consider all applications that fall within our charitable purpose and meet our funding criteria. Grants will be made based on the funding available and solely on merit. We make grants to:

Individuals

If you’re a young person who wishes to further your sports performance then you are welcome to apply directly to us for a grant.

Application process

If you’re a solo applicant representing yourself, you can apply for a grant via The Draft. If you’re younger, a parent may apply on your behalf.

You will need to tell us:

  • Who you are
  • What your sport is, and what level you are at
  • What your ambitions and goals are
  • How you meet our selection criteria
  • Evidence of the need and impact the funding would have

Organisations

We fund both new and established sports clubs and organisations that support young people in their sporting endeavours, especially those that nurture talent through coaching and provide a pathway for young people to compete in regional, national, and international sporting competitions.

Application process

If you’re a solo applicant representing yourself, you can apply for a grant via The Draft. If you’re younger, a parent may apply on your behalf. If you are an organisation that isn’t a charity, then the Council Members may still consider your application if it complies with this guidance. Kindly note that we typically do not fund any Governmental Agencies. We ask you to submit a proposal to us digitally via loulouracefoundation@fairwaygroup.com

You will need to tell us:

  • The purpose of your organisation
  • How you meet our funding criteria
  • If any of the funding priorities are met
  • Information on your organisation
  • Information on any specific individuals.
  • Project/bid details, such as amounts, numbers, and timetable.
  • Evidence of the need and impact the funding would have.
  • Any relevant supporting documents, such as a programme plan or budget
  • Any media and promotion opportunities that you could provide LouLou Race Foundation

Priority funding

Given that we receive more applications than available funding, the Council Members use the following criteria to help them make decisions on how best to allocate funding:

Criteria

  • Vulnerable youth, such as young people in care or from single-parent and lower-income families
  • Girls and young women, particularly if they are participating in typically male-dominated sports.
  • Individuals and organisations that are most in need, notably excluded groups such as  disabled atheletes or those from island and rural communities.
  • If a small grant might enable a larger project to go ahead, such as meeting a shortfall in funding.
  • Any other priorities that the Council Members may, from time to time, decide.

Decision-Making Process

Applications are reviewed by our Council Members, who meet at the start of every quarter to consider and award grants. All grant-making decisions and reporting are recorded in our meeting minutes.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of your submissions. The grants are made entirely on the Council Members' discretion, and their decisions are final.

Compliance

Our Council Members comply with the Jersey Charity Commissioner guidance to ensure that any grants are made in the best interests of the LouLou Race Foundation and that any money is used as expected.

Furthermore, LouLou Race Foundation will carry out sufficient due diligence on grant applicants to confirm the identity of the applicant and ensure that:

  • Any funding will be applied in accordance with the Foundation’s charitable purposes.
  • Funds will not be knowingly used for illegal purposes, such as money laundering, bribery, or financing terrorism.
  • The applicant does not hold views or have any involvement in activities contrary to the Foundation’s values and charitable purposes.

Next Steps for Successful Applicants

Grant Agreements

Successful applications will receive a written agreement, which will set out the following:

  • Our relationship
  • The role of each party/organisation

You will be further required to sign the terms of our grant-giving, which are:

  • Only spending funds for the purposes for which it has been given
  • Reporting back on how the grant was spent
  • Reporting back on the impact the grant had
  • Providing supporting evidence required, such as receipts
  • Agreeing to deadlines for any of the above.

Impact Reporting

All individuals and organisations receiving a grant will be required to provide a report on how your grant was used and the impact that it made.

LouLou Race Foundation will monitor these reports to ensure that grants are being used appropriately for their intended purpose and to assess our broader impact.

This reporting will also help us better inform our future grant decision-making and policy and ensure we fulfil the vision and purpose of the LouLou Race Foundation.
